This is the week, the BIG week, in Indiana education. It is the week that the infamous ISTEP testing begins. Everybody that watches any news knows that it is very important. The stations are covering it like a major event. I know it is important but think about what people are saying,
The students are nervous because it is so important. They know this because their teacher has told them, the TV is talking about it and their parent has said something about it. Why do we do this? The emphasis and all of the discussions make them more nervous than anything else they do. We seem to put these children on pins and needles.
And then there are those that talk about eating a good breakfast and getting a good night's sleep. A local newscaster made a comment on Monday morning that she had purchased some extra protein for their breakfast to help her children with the test. Why not do this every day? Shouldn't the parents make sure that they have a good breakfast and much needed sleep so they can learn on a daily basis? It's just another school day where people send children to learn to the best of their ability. Send them prepared to do their best EVERY day!
OK. Finished with that small rant.
